Blackbushe Festival of Flight – Sponsored by RME Services Ltd
This year marked the 75th anniversary of Blackbushe Airport on the Surrey-Hampshire border. To celebrate the anniversary the airport hosted a two day ‘Festival of Flight’ over the first weekend in July, which saw a mix of aviation and ground-based entertainment. As well as marking the airport’s anniversary, it was also a fund raiser for three very deserving charities, Help for Heroes, the Lt Dougie Dalzell Memorial Trust and Aerobility.
Aerobility are based at Blackbushe Airport and carry out incredible work offering disabled people, without exception, the opportunity to fly an aeroplane, so naturally we were very happy when they asked if we would get involved with the event.
As the Official Electrical Contractor for Blackbushe Festival of Flight, we used around 3000 metres of cable to provide power for over 40 supplies – from marquees, tents and catering vehicles to flagship bespoke exhibition stands, we even supplied power to some of the aeroplanes! RME also supplied and managed the power generation and fuelling throughout the site as the existing power infrastructure required an increase in capacity.
We were first onsite a few days prior to the weekend of the show, but with most people arriving just the day before the show to set up their stands, it was all go! An average of 7.5 miles was walked by each RME staff member onsite that day!
RME sponsored the event carrying out all our work either at cost or by donating plant and equipment free of charge for Aerobility.
We are very proud to have been a part of this event and assist the charities involved with their fundraising.
